A simple eating plate made in a traditional style, with a groove near the top. From making bowls on pole lathes, we think there's a possibility that embellishments like this were a way of easily identifying something you spent many hours making! 
Measures 8.5 inches by 1.5 deep, roughly, in sycamore wood.
