Sycamore that fell outside Newtownabbey, in Northern Ireland, 2022. Sycamore is a natural antibacterial wood, due to it's very close interlocking grain.

The Celts strongly believed sycamore was the home to the spirits and often planted them close to buildings.

The hand burned design is of a silver disc brooch, C21858a, found in Tråen, Rollag, Norway, in the art style Jelling. It is dated to the 11th Century.

This platter is around 16.5 inches diameter, by 1.5 deep. Finished in beeswax and linseed.
